Finally, intraoperative images of our biopsy procedures and specimens are shown. To access difficult regions of the knee, techniques such as shaving through the notch, using a modified Gillquist maneuver, and debriding with a trans-septal approach in the posterior aspect of the knee are reviewed. To identify loose bodies and the nearby structures that must be protected, the compartments of the knee, intercondylar notch, and submeniscal regions are addressed. A standard diagnostic arthroscopy is performed, and our technique of using multiple shavers, electrocautery, and various graspers to effectively remove embedded loose bodies within the synovium is described. Drainage of a significant knee effusion is then shown, whereby loose bodies can be found within the synovial fluid. First, the relevant surface anatomy and the location of our arthroscopic portals are reviewed. A case presentation outlining the clinical findings and relevant magnetic resonance imaging (sagittal and axial views) in a patient with this condition is provided. Surgical tips and techniques for systematic arthroscopic treatment of synovial chondromatosis of the knee. Although technically demanding, our described technique can help facilitate extensive loose body removal and complete synovectomy. The combination of patient positioning, the establishment of multiple arthroscopic portals to ensure optimal visualization and freedom of instruments, the use of a leg holder, and the use of a variety of surgical instruments to facilitate loose body removal and synovectomy is critical to optimize clinical outcomes and minimize complications. The purpose of this Technical Note is to describe our techniques and technical pearls that allow for adequate excision of disease while minimizing complications and disease recurrence. An all-arthroscopic approach has been described to minimize complications and reduce morbidity while providing adequate control of local disease. Treatment generally includes open or arthroscopic loose body removal combined with a synovectomy. Synovial chondromatosis is a benign metaplastic disease of the synovial joints, characterized by the development of cartilaginous nodules in the synovium. Nevertheless, check the complete configuration and other interesting facts about Cobalt that most people dont know. To write the configuration for the Cobalt ions, first we need to write the electron configuration for just Cobalt (Co). Writing the electron configuration, you really only need the valence orbitals, and you can omit the core orbitals by notating it via the noble gas shortcut. (Bi) Bismuth is a chemical element of the periodic table with chemical symbol Bi and atomic number 83 with an atomic weight of 208.98 u and is classed as post-transition metal and is part of group 15 (nitrogen group). The film showcases Ball's initial reactions to the series' older fanbase and travel to one of the first My Little Pony fan conventions in New York City in 2012. In 2014, Ball was the subject of the brony documentary film A Brony Tale, which she also produced. Īmong the series' main voice cast, Ball is cast as a considerable number of incidental characters, including Nurse Redheart, one of the buffalo in Over a Barrel, and one of the teenage dragons in Dragon Quest. During a Q&A session at a season nine premiere party hosted by Meghan McCarthy, Ball stated that she deepened Applejack's voice over time in order to avoid making her sound like Rainbow Dash. īall has cited country singers Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and Reba McEntire as inspiration for affecting Applejack's voice and accent. In addition to auditioning for Applejack and Rainbow Dash, Ball had also auditioned as Spike. Her most prominent roles in the series are those of main characters Applejack and Rainbow Dash.īall was initially cast in the show in 2010 through her prior five years of voiceover experience and was recommended to Studio B Productions (later renamed to DHX Media) through her agent. Ashleigh Ball is a voice actress and singer in My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. It’s also pretty simple to substitute out for a vegetable or fruit allergy. Most meat and fish can be substituted, and there were only one or two meals I couldn’t find substitutions for. It’s fairly simple to make this challenge vegetarian. These were all of my original goals, so it’s safe to say that this challenge was a success for me. I’ve also learned a lot about what I like and what I don’t like when it comes to fruit and veggies and how to cook various types of meals. I’ve learned how to make a lot of delicious recipes that are fairly simple to make again in the future. The title of this blog was originally facetious, but this has truly turned into an experience. Over the past two weeks, I laughed, I cried, and I sliced my finger open. Bake at 350 degrees till biscuits are cooked through and golden brown.Buzzfeed’s Clean Eating Challenge: A Review Make a simple biscuit from a box or from scratch and drop into the pot. "You don’t HAVE to add frozen peas and carrots, but they’re low-cost and make the meal more filling! Add these in as well as the shredded chicken and cook until the peas and carrots are hot, then season to taste. You can use either heavy cream or milk for the creamy texture (heavy cream gives best results). Cook the roux to a golden brown and add in your stock, stirring as you go. "When you’re ready to make the soup, add some chicken fat into a pot - I prefer a cast-iron Dutch oven - and heat on medium or medium high until it’s liquefied again and fragrant, then add flour to create a paste. Shred the chicken off the bone and store the bones and skin if you want to make bone broth, and set the meat to the side. There’s enough of the broth for two or three meals, so save what’s left and freeze. Cool the broth so the fat rises and solidifies to skim off, but save some of the fat. I’ve always put the veggies/herbs in compost because I don’t know what to do with them. "Strain the stock into a bowl and pick out the chicken with tongs. If it boils down too much, you can always add more water and cook longer. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat and cover for your workday (minimum of like two hours). Throw it all in a pot with enough water to cover the chicken by about two to three fingers if you push it down. "Use one Cornish hen (you can get a pack of two from most grocery stores for less than $10), rosemary, sage, thyme (if you don’t have them in dry spices, Safeway/Albertsons has a fresh blend I prefer for $2.50), onion (quartered), garlic (minced), celery (chopped), a little butter (not required the hen has all the fat you need), and salt and pepper. We can make one chicken into five meals for two people, plus use the scraps from the bone broth to chop up for our dog: 1) Sliced rotisserie chicken, 2) chicken panini with pesto and mozzarella, 3) chicken salad, 4) chicken stir-fry, and 5) chicken soup." If you don’t have a membership, ask a friend to take you. And now one $9 rotisserie chicken has provided four nights of supper for two people, so eight meals!" Now you have a homemade chicken veggie soup! I like to eat mine over a wild rice mix for a little texture and carbs. Take the chicken out of the cheesecloth, pick off the bits of edible meat that have come off (little scraps) and toss those in the soup, and dispose of the rest of the carcass. "Add spices - a little bit of red wine or balsamic vinegar is also nice - then add chopped-up veggies (really, anything you have lying around onions = amazing), and basically just cook until the broth is delicious. The appearance of the tooth fairy can vary depending on the culture and individual interpretations. While the tooth fairy is not a real entity, the joy and excitement it brings to children are very much real! What does the tooth fairy look like? The tooth fairy is a beloved and cherished character in many households, and the tradition of leaving a tooth under the pillow for the tooth fairy’s visit is a fun way for families to celebrate this developmental milestone in a child’s life. This adds an element of excitement and wonder to the process of losing teeth and helps children cope with the natural changes their bodies go through as they grow up. When a child loses a tooth, parents or guardians may play along with the tooth fairy tradition by exchanging the tooth for a small gift or money while the child is asleep. It is a charming and imaginative tradition created by parents to make losing baby teeth a fun and magical experience for children. As with other mythical beings like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy is not a real, tangible entity. The tooth fairy is a fictional character or mythological figure that is part of Western folklore. Some fairies leave a dollar and some leave up to $10. Ask your child to leave her tooth there so that the tooth fairy can replace it with money. A drawstring bag or boxīuy or make a small drawstring bag or box. You can also just buy a small plastic fairy if you don’t have the time or patience to make one. Bake and decorate a cupcake and place the tooth or sugar paste fairy in the middle. Make a little tooth or a little fairy out of sugar paste. Once your child falls asleep take out the tooth and instead add some food coloring and glitter. Jar of glitterįill a jar with water and ask your child to leave her tooth in the glass. “She” could write a note with a special surprise such as you are entitled to the ice cream of your choice if you prefer not to leave money. The tooth fairy will take the tooth out and replace it with money or a gift voucher. Ask your child to leave her tooth in the felt tooth. Take a small pillow, cut out a tooth shape from felt, and sew it on the pillow. Some kids enjoy this but parents don’t as much since the glitter always seems to get everywhere. You could sprinkle some glitter (fairy dust) next to the window and around your child’s room to leave a trail that the tooth fairy supposedly left when she came in at night. Leave the tooth in the box with the letter to the tooth fairy and in the morning there will be a surprise in the box instead of the tooth! Make a fairy dust trail Print out this tooth fairy box template on colored card stock, cut on the solid lines, and fold the box. Don’t forget to leave it somewhere that the tooth fairy will be sure to find! Insert the tooth and have your child fill in the details. Print out the template, cut it out, and fold it to make the envelope. This tooth fairy envelope has a place to add the date that your child lost her tooth and the gift that she would like the tooth fairy to bring her. For those of you who do not want to start this tradition or don’t believe in giving money, you can just prepare the certificate. And in case you are wondering, no, it will probably not be sufficient and you will need to attach a gift or money. Don’t forget to add the date so you can keep the certificate for when your child is older. You can even have it laminated if you have the time. Print out and sign a tooth fairy certificate (there is a selection of free printable tooth fairy certificates above). One to be spent, one to be saved and one to be donated to charity. If you are trying to teach your child the value of giving to others and/or saving then you can give three notes. You can either use a tooth chart or just keep a copy of the certificates or letters that she gets from the tooth fairy. Keep track of when your child loses her teeth. Don’t forget to encourage your child to take good care of his teeth! In fact, in addition to anything you decide to do, you can also leave a new toothbrush and toothpaste. Here are some ideas on various ways to honor the tooth fairy tradition, add some fairy magic, and celebrate losing a tooth. In return, the tooth fairy leaves a reward of some sort. According to the myth, when kids lose their teeth they leave them under their pillow and the tooth fairy comes to get them. This is an exciting time for both children and parents. Children typically lose their baby teeth at around age 6 or 7. In the 1906 earthquake there were 3,000 or 4,000 people who were just caught in that wave of fire that swept through the city. Vidale: Historically, the biggest hazard from earthquakes has been fire. While people could die from falling debris and collapsed structures, the highest death toll would be from fires. Narrator: The quake could kill about 1,800 people and leave 50,000 or more with injuries. Vidale: To trigger a tsunami, it takes an earthquake that moves the ocean floor, and most of the San Andreas is on land, so there would be a little bit of waves generated from a San Andreas earthquake, but nothing that would be dangerous. And, no, the quake would not cause a tsunami, despite what movies would have you believe. Narrator: Five steel high-rises could collapse completely, while 10 others will be red-tagged, or unsafe to enter. There's a sense that if it's modern, code-designed, it's earthquake-proof and everything should be great, but that's not the reality. John Stewart: The building code, with its minimum requirements, does not ensure that the building will be serviceable after an earthquake. Narrator: Unreinforced structures are the least stable, but even buildings up to code could crumble. Older steel buildings, the connections in them have not necessarily been designed to withstand the maximum forces that actually can be generated. Wallace: 'Cause the San Andreas will produce the kind of long-period shaking which would be very damaging to very tall buildings, say, in downtown LA, and Century City, and Long Beach, and so forth. Narrator: In this time-lapse video, you can see how building components would hold up in a high-magnitude earthquake. John Wallace: The number of buildings that were constructed before about 1980 is really significant, and most of these buildings are very vulnerable to damage and collapse. Narrator: During and immediately following the shaking, buildings could collapse. The main point is to protect your head and chest. The best thing to do, like we always say, is duck, cover, and hold. Vidale: People have this idea of running out of bed, out of their buildings, and that's a terrible idea, because a lot of what we see in earthquakes is people with broken legs and people who've run through glass. Narrator: If you are near the epicenter of the earthquake, it will be nearly impossible to stand. Basically something that we as a civilization have trouble creating, short of, like, a nuclear explosion. So the power of a magnitude 7.8 earthquake is probably close to the power used in the whole state for a year. Vidale: It's basically moving the ground several yards over an area of 50 square miles. According to a 2008 federal report, the most likely scenario is a 7.8 magnitude quake that would rupture a 200-mile stretch along the southernmost part of the fault. Narrator: In other words, we're overdue for a major shake. Vidale: We haven't had a big earthquake in Southern California really since 1857. The southern parts of the fault have remained inactive for over 200 years. Narrator: On average, the San Andreas Fault ruptures every 150 years. The major danger is from the earthquakes on the San Andreas Fault system. John Vidale: You know, here in California you have dangers from a number of different kinds of earthquakes. California is located in a hot zone of fault lines, the most notorious of them the San Andreas Fault. Narrator: While experts can't know exactly when a quake will occur, they have a pretty good idea of where. But when it hits, what will that actually look like? Here's what experts say could happen in the seconds, hours, and days after the big one. But neither of these compare to the long-awaited big one, which scientists predict will eventually rattle the golden coast. Narrator: On July 4, 2019, Ridgecrest, California, was hit with a 6.4 magnitude earthquake and then a 7.1 just one day later. Here's what will happen if the big one hits the West Coast. Narrator: Catastrophic earthquake scenarios have played out on the silver screen for decades, terrifying viewers with quakes that can collapse skyscrapers or topple entire cities. Account icon An icon in the shape of a person's head and shoulders. They are willing to pay overtime to workers when needed, because they still believe they can save money this way. Companies tend to do this so they can keep their benefits costs to a minimum. The root cause of most of the problems that lead to power linemen deaths is failure to hire an adequate number of utility workers to perform the work safely. Here are just a few ways these companies cut corners to try to save a few dollars: Why is Being a Power Lineman so Dangerous? This is why you need a strong advocate in your corner with the proven ability to recover maximum compensation – even in highly complex cases like these. Utility companies have vast resources, and they can afford to retain armies of lawyers whose job is to mitigate their losses from incidents such as lineman deaths. If you or someone close to you was injured or killed working as a power lineman, it is very important to speak with an experienced linemen injuries and death attorney, so you fully understand your legal rights and options. Unfortunately, this means that these organizations are far too concerned about their bottom line at the expense of the safety of the workers they employ. Utility companies are giant entities with no competition in most areas of the country. This puts electrical power line installers and repairers at #9 on the top 10 workplace fatality rate list, right behind farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural workers. There are approximately 21 lineman deaths per 100,000 workers.
